In short
- 1,668 of 3,219 graduates from 2024 were in a Texas college that fall. That is about 52 of every 100.1
- Austin Community College took the most, 571. UT Austin, Texas State and Texas A&M came next.1
- The share was higher than in nearby districts. Round Rock ISD was about 50. Georgetown, Liberty Hill and Hutto were lower.1
Numbers marked “our math” are our estimates, not official figures. The notes show the inputs and the steps.
How it works
- The state matches graduates’ records to Texas college records. It looks at the fall right after graduation.1
- Some graduates can’t be matched. Their state ID numbers are not standard. The state calls them “not trackable.”1
- Students at colleges outside Texas are not found. They are counted the same as students not in college.1

- About 4 of every 10 who went to a Texas college chose a two-year college (our math).12
- About 6 of every 10 chose a four-year college or university (our math).12
The other side
- Leaving out the “not trackable” graduates changes the order. Then Round Rock ISD is about 58 of every 100 and Leander ISD about 56 (our math).12
- The state’s school report shows a different rate. It said 57 of every 100 for the class of 2023. It uses a different year and method. See graduation and dropouts.
- Going to college is not the same as finishing. This count does not show who earns a degree.
Questions to ask
- Does the district track how many graduates go to colleges in other states?
- Does the district track how many graduates finish college?

Our math. In college = graduates − not found − not trackable (e.g., 3,219 − 1,304 − 247 = 1,668). Two-year: 571 + 60 + 16 + 6 + 5 + 17 = 675; 675 ÷ 1,668 = 40.5%; four-year 993 ÷ 1,668 = 59.5%. Without not trackable: 1,668 ÷ 2,972 = 56.1%; 1,796 ÷ 3,097 = 58.0%. ↩ ↩2 ↩3
