Every number has a source
Each number has a small note mark. Click it to see where the number came from. Most come from audits, budgets and state records.
Labels we use
- Gap: we looked, but could not find or check this yet. We say so instead of guessing.
- The other side: reasons a number can look better or worse than it seems.
- Our math: we did the sum ourselves from the sources listed.
What we do not do
- We do not tell you how to vote.
- We do not name private people. We name public officials when they act in their jobs.
Who pays for this site
- We do not run ads.
- We do not take money from the school district, the city or the county. We also do not take money from their vendors, bond firms, candidates or political action committees.
- We do not take fees for sending readers to any tax protest service.
Mistakes
If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. How to reach us: email corrections@thepublicmath.com. We reply within 3 business days. We read every report and note each fix on the page it affects.
Tools we use
We use AI software to help find records, draft summaries and check math. A person reviews every page before it goes up, and every fact links to a public record. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it and note the change.
