In short
The 30-second version
- Where: Texas.gov/PropertyTaxes links to each county’s site.1
- When: early August, after values are certified.2
- What: for each body, last year’s rate, the no-new-revenue rate, the voter-approval rate, and the proposed or adopted rate.1
- Why it matters: it lists each body’s hearing date, so you know when to speak.1
How to read your entry
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| No-new-revenue rate | About the same money from the same homes as last year1 |
| Voter-approval rate | Highest rate without an election1 |
| Proposed / adopted rate | What the body plans or chose1 |
| Estimated tax | Your value times each rate, after exemptions1 |
Example: the county adopted 0.381218 for 2026, a bit above its no-new-revenue rate of 0.376230. Its separate road rate went the other way: 0.040329, below its 0.045317. Added together, the two equal the combined no-new-revenue rate, 0.421547.3
The other side
- It is an estimate. Your final bill comes in October and may differ.2
- It is detailed, and owners have to go to the website to see it. The law also requires a newspaper notice of rate hearings.2
Questions to ask
- Where does the tax office post the dates of each unit’s rate hearing?
- How does the tax office update the tax-rate website when a unit changes its proposed rate?
What you can do next
